Quidditch Rulebook
Here at “The Curse of the Dark Blood”, we like to play Quidditch a little differently. It’s just another way that we make your experience here more innovative. So, here you are at the Newbie’s Guide for Quidditch. Even if you aren’t planning on playing Quidditch, I still suggest you read this as your character might enjoy watching the games and you should know what’s going on.
So, once we set up our first game you can get started. Let’s say, for example, our first game of the year is going to be Gryffindor v. Hufflepuff. Provided we have all the positions filled, we would then be ready to start the game.
Before the game, I (or another administrator) would set up. What this means is that I would place various Quidditch Balls on different parts of the forum. First, let’s explain the type of Equipment we are working with here.
We have Five Balls:
-Quaffle
-Anti Quaffle
-Bludger
-Anti Bludger
-Golden Snitch
As I said before, all of these will be placed on hidden parts of the forum. For example, I might go to the Second Level Library, click on a thread and edit someone’s post to contain one of the five images. When I do this, the image will pop up under someone’s message. Remember, I can place it on any page and I will try my best to be tricky.
Now, while we are in the game here’s what you have to know.
Chasers: You’re goal is going to be simple—get the Quaffle and get it in one of the hoops. In order to do this, you’re going to need to find the Quaffle in one of the forums throughout the site. What you are going to be looking for is this picture:
When you find the picture of the red Quaffle you’ll need to explain where you found it. An example post might be:
(Found in The Second Level/Hogwarts Library/Ready For Classes/Page Four/Post By Thomas Tangleton)
… (Then you would flesh out your post with realistic details of how your character got the Quaffle and the action of them throwing it into the hoops)…
Keepers: You’re going to be looking for something similar to the Chasers, but a bit different. Instead of looking for the Red Quaffle, you will be keeping an eye on a different picture:
After a Chaser throws a Quaffle at your hoops, you have 24 hours to catch an Anti-Quaffle to block them. If you can’t find one or aren’t online to find one, then the throw is an automatic goal. What you would post is the exact same as the Chasers, so if you need an Example Post look at the Chaser’s Example Post.
Beaters: You, unlike the Keepers, can use your Bludgers at any time (providing you can find them). If you are aiming to hit a Bludger at an opposing Team’s Chaser, you should look for this picture:
When you find this picture, you can post exactly what the Chaser’s post. If you need an Example Post, look at the Chaser’s Example Post.
So, let’s say Gryffindor’s beater has found a Bludger and aimed it at a Hufflepuff Chaser. The Hufflepuff beater then has 24 hours to find and anti-Bludger to block it. If you need to find an Anti-Bludger, you’ll be looking for this picture:
When you find this, and if you find it within twenty-four hours, you can then post and block the Bludger from hitting your Chaser. If you need an Example Post, please look at the Chaser’s Example Post.
Seeker: You’re object is simple. Catch the Golden Snitch. You do so, and your Team wins 150 points and the game is over. Look for this picture:
Be warned now. I will be hiding the Snitch in very discreet places.
It comes on a first come, first serve basis. Whenever an image in a certain place is used, it is no longer available to you and I will take the picture down. There are going to be 10 Bludgers and Quaffles hidden throughout the board for any one game. If you use them all up before the Snitch is caught, the game is over on an automatic tie.
Please consider that this is a very time-consuming game and you must be highly dedicated to play it. We welcome all people who think they can take the challenge.
If you have any question, ask them now please.
