It began as sudden as a war could have. The fifteen hundreds struck and with them came the Second Italian War. It was useless to try and fight amongst any side, the war would wipe out a good batch of men - men were men, one culture, one language, it didn’t matter. To some people that is - the ones that would later be labelled as mutants, monsters, creatures. These people were hidden in the shadows of all those whom believed to be higher on the food chain, when really, they were the lowest of the low. People; all the same, even the lowest were still people. But human? That was a different story all together. It took but an eye blink for these people to forget the Italian War, it was of no use to dwell on the humans that died at the hands of each other - it was easy to forget. Easy to forget to care. This war had belonged to the Vampires, a secret that they decided to share only amongst themselves - of course it was their war, any night person could have guessed - all Vampires descended from human Italians, they were Italian in their own state, so why not have a ball with their own people? Set them against another peoples for their own sick amusement? The werewolves, on the other hand, were not amused. They were the closest thing to human there was, and in such, they lost a great many while in war. Werewolves were the only alliance the humans had, no other night people would have dared this. The Shifters thought the wolves pathetic; a branch of their own family leaving their side to fight amongst humans. Witches gathered, their were second in command of the night world - just under the Vampires - and as such, they helped to punish. Fairies slept through the years of the Second Italian war, psychics commit suicide, elves cried from the hollows of their trees. But the war was not what was important, it was the cover-up that was done afterwards. The war was written off as nothing, Vampires touched the minds of the population one by one, they would forget, Witches cast barriers to the same effect. What was so important about the war that needed to be covered up? It was the humans, they had found a weakness in the night world, they knew how to destroy it. The humans had to forget - the night people would have to pose as humans, Vampires would need to create myths, witches would have to keep low profiles, werewolves could not afford to shift in the new moon. Everything had to be hidden. So now the night people are completely unknown. To the human world, there is no such thing as magic, no other creatures, nothing to be frightened of but their own people. But be careful night world, the humans are smarter than you give them credit for - they will find a way, to EXPOSE.
